Postdoctoral position in Neurophysiology

We are currently searching a highly motivated Postdoctoral researcher with experience in electrophysiology for a project focusing on the study of the role of hypothalamic-mesolimbic neurocircuitry in the development of diet-induced obesity. This project will be jointly carried out in the laboratories of Dr. Daniela Cota (Inserm U1215, Neurocentre Magendie, Bordeaux, France http://www.neurocentre-magendie.fr/cota) and Dr. Xavier Fioramonti (NutriNeuro, INRA UMR 1286, Bordeaux, France, https://www6.bordeaux-aquitaine.inra.fr/nutrineuro ), which both investigate the neurobiological mechanisms of obesity and diabetes. Patch-clamp electrophysiology associated with the use of optogenetics, molecular biology and neuroanatomical analysis are the main approaches that will be used in the project.

Candidates should have a doctoral degree in neuroscience/neurobiology, and recognized expertise in patch-clamp electrophysiology. Previous experience in the study of neuronal circuits involved in the regulation of energy balance using rodent models and in the use of optogenetics coupled with electrophysiology is strongly preferred. Ability to work both independently and cooperatively within a team will be essential.

The project is funded by the Labex Brain (http://brain.labex.u-bordeaux.fr ). The postdoctoral contract will be for a period of 18 months.

Le syndrome de l'X fragile est une maladie neurodéveloppementale et la principale cause génétique d'autisme. Dans une publication qui vient de paraitre dans la revue Neuropsychopharmacology, le groupe de X. Leinekugel (Neurocentre Magendie, équipe A. Frick) donne corps à une hypothèse clinique dite de "la défensive sensorielle", ainsi qu'une piste de traitement pharmacologique potentiel.

Cyril Herry une nouvelle fois à l'honneur !

Cyril Herry est le lauréat 2017 du Prix Madame Victor Noury décerné par l'Académie des Sciences. Ce prix a pour vocation "d'encourager le développement de la science dans ses manifestations les plus diverses"... Exactement ce que fait Cyril !
Pour mémoire, Cyril avait déjà obtenu le prix de l'Académie de Médecine dans la catégorie "avancée thérapeutique" en 2016.

The Cortical Plasticity group at the Neurocentre Magendie (Bordeaux, France) is seeking to recruit a postdoctoral researcher to join their group in Fall 2017

In this project, we are examining the pathophysiological modification of neocortical circuits in different models of autism spectrum disorder. To probe changes in crucial cellular parameters in these transgenic mouse models, we will use a combination of in vitro patch-clamp and two-photon calcium imaging approaches together with single-cell RNA sequencing and pharmacology.

The successful candidate will be initially funded for two years with the possibility of extension. Excellence will be a primary criterion for selection, but experience in electrophysiology and calcium imaging are a bonus. The candidate must have a PhD or equivalent qualification in either neuroscience, life sciences, medicine, or physics. The candidate should also have a good level of proficiency in English.

The team is based at the Neurocentre Magendie, an INSERM research institute, and member of the Bordeaux Neurocampus — a centre of excellence for neuroscience research in France. The day-to-day language is English, but support would be provided for learning French if the candidate so wishes.
